What’s Next for Nonso Anozie?

Nonso Anozie is a British actor of Igbo Nigerian descent. His rise to prominence started when he was cast in small roles in RocknRolla by Guy Ritchie, and Atonement by Joe Wright. Those small roles helped him land the lead role in Cass, a 2008 British crime film that recreates the life of Carol “Cass” Pennant — an English writer and former football hooligan. In 2008, he appeared as a U.S. marine for the BBC TV three-part Iraq war drama titled Occupation. He also had significant roles in the movies Conan the BarbarianEnder’s Game, and the NBC Series Dracula.

Anozie is best known for his appearance in Game of Thrones. He played the role of Xaro Xhoan Daxos in HBO’s hit drama, joining the cast as a guest star in the second season.

When Anozie joined the show it was still in its infancy. Now the show has become as famous and influential as Lord of the RingsStar Wars and Harry Potter. Following the legacy of those shows GoT has become a large part of modern pop culture. Like all major pop culture phenomena, GoT has expanded far beyond the screen and has explored multiple revenue channels. This has ranged from unique items like the Night’s Watch Boyfriend Pillow and a life-size Iron Throne, to numerous games based on the show. The Game of Thrones 15 Lines slot game on Slingo is aimed at fans with a deep knowledge of the GoT as it only uses the famous sigils from the show in its gameplay. After the show finishes next year the story will continue through several planned spin offs. Unfortunately for Anozie, he only lasted one season and is unlikely to return in any of the spin offs.

This year, Anozie is set to star in 7 Days in Entebbe as Idi Amin the former dictator of Uganda. The film is an upcoming British crime thriller written by Gregory Burke and directed by Jose Padilha, and is based on the hijacking of Air France Flight 139 and the subsequent rescue mission “Operation Entebbe”.

Anozie will star alongside Rosamund Pike (Hector and the Search for Happiness) and Daniel Brühl (The Bourne Ultimatum).

Below is the trailer for the film:

In 2019, Anozie will also appear in Artemis Fowl. The film will be adapted from the first book of the acclaimed series of science fiction fantasy novels written by Eoin Colfer. Disney will be adapting the novel into a movie.

Anozie will be playing as the “Butler,” which is one of the titular character’s most loyal servants. According to the books, he is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, a formidable marksman, and firearms expert.

Artemis Fowl currently has 8 book installments. The first publication of the book was printed in 2001, and the final story titled Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian was released in 2012. Currently, the movie adaptation of the book has no release date yet but it is estimated to be sometime in 2019. The other actors that will star alongside Anozie are Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast) and Judi Dench (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children).
