Seems fair to make the argument that it wasn't them since most of what is being claimed is assumption.

My thoughts exactly someone found it and threw it on the roof

A plastic object 4 inches long making a loud sound? Hard to believe, but certainly possible. So are the people involved graduating from Trump's School of Denial and saying it isn't theirs.

When these covers are removed before flight I presume they are stored. So if USMC are saying this, can we assume that they did a check and found all such plastic covers accounted for?

If Trump himself fell out of a military plane these losers would deny it was there aircraft.

Early reports in the J press suggested it smelt of burning and was hot to the touch. Is the sun still strong in Okinawa in December? If no-one saw it fall, and the mechanic swears he/she removed it before flight, then perhaps there is some other explanation for a radiation shield lying on the roof of a nursery.

Someone bought it off of ebay and put it on the roof.

So the squadron inventories the gear to make sure everything is accounted for. They do and it is; they report it up the chain. The Public Affairs announces that it wasn’t their item because all of theirs are accounted for. Everyone still accuses it of being theirs.... smh People are being pathetic.

What's amusing is watching the rage from the few in Okinawa that want Americans out. I think they're angrier at the possibility that it might NOT be from a US military aircraft than they would be if they knew it WERE from a US millitary aircraft, because that would mean their anger is once again unjustified and misdirected, and Onaga might have to feel outraged about something else or risk being a hypocrite again.

Anyway, the onus is not on the US to prove there was nothing that fell. The onus is on any accusers.

so some people would us believe that a plastic object fell from a helicopter and hit a roof with such velocity and force that it created a burning smell?

I think someone got that part from a surplus store or a trash pile. If anyone has been to some of these surplus stores you know some of the things one can clearly identify as being from the bases.

Well, we were not there so we cannot comment on reports of heat or smell, but it does have good-sized chip on the rim as though it landed hard at some point in its life. It is also missing the streamer that normally hangs from it before removal for flight. As long as its just this cover that fell, we can breathe easy.

Just like with so much here in Okinawa, folks jump to conclusions make accusations and tell enough lies that eventually people start believing it to be true.

“And what about Neomi”?

'It fell off an American military aircraft and that is final.' It's my party and I'll be outraged if I want to.

So if it didn't fall off an aircraft, it had to be stolen from the air base by nursery school employees. They clearly snuck past all the Marines, snuck into the aircraft, removed the cover, and snuck out again. Sure, that sounds logical....

Or it never was the Marine's part in the first place!

Ginowan City security cameras have footage of a Marine Corps helicopter in the area when the noise was heard and people inside the nursery say they heard a helicopter before hearing the noise and the object found on the roof came from a helicopter. Could just be a coincidence but given the bad safety record of the Marines on Okinawa, few people here are going to believe that it is not the Marines fault.

Well if it's missing then someone will be ordering a new one. I guess that's one way to check, unless there's a coverup.

But that said, there should be more control over what can be flown at low altitude over populated areas.

Except, the cover that was found on the roof is most definetly not a cover from a CH53. That particular cover isn’t flat at the top. It has a knob while the photograph of what was found on the roof looks like some jerryrigged piece of junk.

Here is a link to the picture from the Ryukyu Shimpo of the obect found on the roof,

I am not an expert so I will not comment on whether it came from a Marine Corps helicopter or not but I will say if that is a jerryrigged piece of junk then whoever made it did a good job including a label on it that says Remove Before Flight, a Part Number and the words U.S. at the bottom of it.

I believe someone got that part from a fleamarket or found it and threw it on the roof to stir up some controversy.
