CP Communications Taps Silvus Technologies Mesh Network for Wireless Camera Connectivity

MN-MIMO technology provides a single frequency bidirectional multi-camera solution for golf, football, and baseball coverage

The Silvus mesh network solution allows us to have seamless bidirectional communications from the camera in the field back to the RCP and the video engineers love it.”
— CP Communications Senior VP Kurt Heitmann

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, October 2, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- CP Communications, a leading provider of wireless camera systems for FOX Sports golf coverage as well as other high profile events such as Superbowl LI and the 2017 MLB All Star Game, has begun deploying Silvus StreamCaster radios to provide seamless wireless connectivity for their new camera control / paint system and return video.

At the USGA Senior Open and again at the Women’s Open, the system was set-up to provide simultaneous control of nine cameras throughout the golf course. CP’s innovative IP based camera control receiver (CCR) and RCP interface solution provides the video engineer with instantaneous control as well as full feedback to the RCP, including indications that have not previously been available, such as showing when the lens extender is in use and the real values of iris, gain and gamma.

Reliable RF coverage for the system is provided by the Silvus StreamCaster “MN-MIMO” waveform, a combination of mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET), COFDM modulation and MIMO multi-antenna transmission and reception technologies. StreamCaster radios are available for use in both licensed and unlicensed frequency bands and automatically operate as a self-forming, self-healing mesh network with no user interaction required.

Commenting on the first successful deployments of the system, CP Communications Senior VP Kurt Heitmann said “The Silvus mesh network solution allows us to have seamless bidirectional communications from the camera in the field back to the RCP and the video engineers love it. They can see exactly what the camera values really are, not like the old systems which “faked” the handshake. We are extremely happy with the Silvus system and we are now deploying it on all of our RF camera rentals.”
